Norway’s second largest and historic city has so much to offer. Most famous is Bryggen; the wooden buildings on Bergen’s iconic quay. Right next to it lies one of Norway’s best-preserved fortresses; Bergenhus. There you will find Håkonshallen from 1250 which was a royal residence in the Middle Ages.
If you want to extend your stay in Bergen, we recommend:
- Fløyen Mountain – suits everyone!
Take the funicular up and walk back, or walk both up and down. We recommend a stop at Skansedammen, a perfect place for a picnic.
- Ulriken to Fløyen, demanding walk 15 km
The bus from the city center and the gondola up to Ulriken, the highest of Bergen’s seven mountains. This walk is called “Vidden” and is the classic long hike in Bergen. From the top you can enjoy fantastic views of Bergen with the sea, the islands, the fjords and the mountains. There are many opportunities for a shorter loop walk from Ulriken summit.
Among the small idyllic villages and the roaring waterfalls, we have picked the best of accommodation and attractions. Together it gives you the best active holiday!
Stay in unique hotels, enjoy fantastic local food and discover the hidden gems of Sognefjorden.

This was fun, we had changing weather, and it was great nature experiences. Our bike ride in Sogn is not behind what we have experienced on a bike around Europe. Norway is just as good, and just as exciting!

It was a monstrous and exclusive trip with both exceptionally beautiful landscapes, excellent culinary specialties, good nature and cultural experiences and really good and timely guidance from the local tour guide.
